ok, on wednesday ayi took me, didi and meimei out for lunch, we went to taka and ate at sushi tei!!! kitsune udon! woots~ it was awesome, save for e fact that i ate too much. heh. aft that we went to kinokuniya and ayi bought me 3 books. yay! :D i wanted "Bed Of Roses" by Nora Roberts at first, but it was e 2nd book in e series, so i got e 1st book instead, "Vision In White". havent read it yet. then i got "Thirteen Reasons Why" by Jay Asher and "I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You" by Ally Carter. yay :D

on thurs, ayi and i went wiv didi to his sch to collect his psle results. he was satisfied, but honestly, i dont think its that great. we went to meet uncle timmy, then he treated us to lunch - i ate pasta. i still prefer e one my helper cooks, though. aft dat, ayi, didi and i went to vivo and watched "A Christmas Carol" in 3D!!! it was okay, and some of e ghosts were scary :O

ytd was ayi's bdae, went out with uncle timmy, ayi and my siblings to sakae sushi at junction 8 for lunch. i ate kitsune udon again :D it was okay, but e one fr sushi tei is better. then sui ku (my other uncle) brought all of us (including my mom) out for dinner, we had korean food :D

Be A People Person

i was downloading videos just now, and i was bored. one can be busy and bored, u know. i didn like "Of Money And Mouths". it was lost on me. it's too repetitive and vulgar. was listening to songs fr Mamma Mia! OST on youtube.

i continued reading deception point today, after i worked on e alternative OM script. i hope haseena is doing e original script. i didn discuss who's going to do wat with her. oh well, i think she wont do e alternative script, so it shud be okay.

i think i've officially become roann loh's honorary boredom-killer. she keeps saying, "hi, i'm bored." aiyo :D this is bad, right? it means i'm slacking too hard, so i keep playing with her. i shud be studying now. but i dont want to!!! hahahaha XD

i know this is totally random, but is it okay to be jealous of people? ok, e bible says it isnt. actuali, wanting something another person has is considered a sin. wow, God really knows what's good and bad for us. i spent 10 minutes chewing myself out cos i was so envious of ting yan. i've told her that i'm jealous of her b4, so i reali wouldn count this as gossiping. how do u gossip on a blog, anyway?

but that's beside e point. she's popular, good-looking, and has a great personality. she's smart, has a good relationship with God, has a truckload of friends, always has a word of advice, knows when to do what, is brilliant at leadership, and is, in essence, just who i'm not. my polar opposite. i have to stop comparing myself to her, or i'm going to give myself bipolar disorder.

she's like a role model. there she is, perfect. shining. gleaming. people's eyes light up when they see her. (my greatest wish is to have my mom's eyes light up every time i enter a room. it never happened, save for the time i scored 100 in maths. and that was pretty much 7-8 years ago. and i remember how happy she was for that one moment, clear as day. needless to say, it never happened again.) ting yan is perfect, wrapped up in tissue paper and ready to be opened as the best gift ever.

i want to be like her, but i dont want to be her clone. i want to be well-liked too, just not for the same reasons ting yan is. i want to be liked for who i am. i'm just not sure if that can happen.

so that's why my new yr resolutions for nxt yr are to be more open, and to get to know other ppl better. i think once i hit sec 1, i just shut myself in and locked the doors so i could build, well, not walls, but something more like a cave. and i dont like who i've become. a hermit, a loner and someone pathetic.

i think ting is open about her life, and that's why ppl feel good abt sharing their problems with her, and from there they build a relationship? i may not be as great as her, but i do have my strengths, and 1 of them is to be able to dissect a rotten problem and find a way to fix it - even though it might be hard.

when sis kc told me, "you have to tear down your walls", i felt the truth in that. i dont believe in what i'm doing to myself and to the people around me anymore.

so, from 2010 onwards, (no, sorry, i cant do it on my own. i still need God and e new year to help me change), i will try really hard to be nicer to ppl, and to be more open abt sharing. its something i tried really hard not to do this year. i think i felt that the less ppl knew abt me, the better, cos i'm hot-tempered and selfish and cold on the inside. but i think all that happened was that ppl figured out all my bad points anyway, and didn get a chance to see all my good ones. (i am on a roll here, i think its an epiphany)

after i finish reading deception point, i'm definitely going to have to start on "be a people person" straight away.

i'd better go do my TAWG and sleep now, have to go for OM meeting tmr morning. good night!

heyy!!! i actually wanted to blog abt this ytd but i forgot (i cant believe it). i got into higher chinese!!!!!!!!! so i get 2 bonus points!!!!!!!!! woots~ woots~ woots~ i appealed and got in, wheeeeeeeeee!!! :D :D :D

i finished reading "He Touched Me" by Benny Hinn recently. i didn like it at first, and i actuali stopped halfway (onli sneha wil know e seriousness of that.) i'm quite ashamed of myself. i read 4 books halfway this month. it must be the holidays getting to me.

anyway, i'll get back to e bk. aft i re-read "Keeping Faith" (i found e bk in e class we were cleaning on e last day of sch, so i kept it), i picked up "He Touched Me" and continued reading it. its not as bad as i thought it was, but i'm going to stop reading autobiographies for a while. i'm going to finish reading "Be A People Person" (yeah, yeah, i shud really stay away fr self-help bks), "The Diary Of A Young Girl" (remind me never to read anything by Anne Frank again), and "Deception Point". i think e only reason i stopped reading deception point was cos i wanted to finish reading e bks i gave up on.

i'm reading "The Boys" now, its dis story sneha sent me. apparently e writer of dat particular story puts stories on her blog but doesnt allow ppl to view them (they're blocked posts) cos she doesnt want to be plagiarized. but sneha reviewed 1 of her stories or sth, then she allowed sneha dodo to view the posts. so basically, sneha copied and pasted the stories for me. e writer is supposedly v good, if i'm not wrong. she's gotten a few on9 awards and received a scholarship for some writing-related course. i'm pretty impressed, and envious. but so far, i dont really like dis story. sneha says its not e best, and that i shud read "Of Money And Mouths" instead. so, i'll read that nxt, then finish up e rest of e half-read bks.

i read "Have A Little Faith", Mitch Albom's latest bk, aft i read "Keeping Faith". its okay, had quite a few things that caught my attention. i still prefer "Tuesdays With Morrie", but that's just my opinion.

so, my bdae's coming up dis sat!!! yay :D not sure wat to expect, though. haha here's my wish list (hint, hint):
1. Books!!! (i'm fine with fiction)
2. VCDs (i think my aunt is going to get me "Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs". oh please, please, please let that happen)
3. Talent (if its possible, i'd like to know my talent, or have it made more obvious to me)
4. OM Gold Medal (this can be fulfilled later)
5. Will And Grace Season 1 VCD!!!

haha i dont really want much this yr, and i dont really need anything specific. even though a polaroid would be nice XD

Her Father's House

it's my dad's birthday today. i miss him a little more than usual. is he happy? is he hanging out with girls in skimpy outfits? is he thinking of me? does he ever think of me? i dont know, but i hope so. is that foolish? i wouldn want him to think of me if he hates me. that would be too sad. he loves me the most, right? after all, he spent the most time with me, and the least with my sister, who everyone loves most now. but she was a baby when he knew her. i've seen my uncle go absolutely crazy over baby tiffany. what if my dad feels that way? does he love her the most too? its 11 already. is he asleep? did anyone wish him happy birthday today? i'm not making sense. i havent seen him in years. he hates this family, he just wants to get as much money as he can out of the divorce case. does he want custody of me? would i go with him? do i even have a say? Holy Spirit, this is so hard. is he drinking alcohol? does he even remember me? does he remember what i look like? i doubt it. so he doesnt love me? what is it like to have a parent who hates you? is it okay to talk to other people about this? but they wont understand, right? whose father abandoned their family for a divorced women with a wasted body and children? and then abandoned that woman and started hanging out with cheap, bimbotic women? does the world really have an axis? and even that is tilted, right? apparently, it also shifts every few years. even the world isnt right. how can i expect my father to be? but its always been this way. he's the y variable of the equation. if i factored him into my life, if he was always here, then e equation would balance out and everything would be perfect, right? maybe not. but i think, at least it'll be better than what it is now. will he ever come back? will i ever see him again? i'm typing all this without any emotion. i'm numbed to the pain, but when it breaks through, it still hurts. no one is superhuman, not even if they pretend to be. i failed chinese. will that make him hate me even more? he was an ASEAN scholar. he excelled in everything. would he want a daughter like me? i dont think anyone would want a daughter like me. i really dont think so. wouldnt you choose the clever and kind all-rounder over the hot-tempered loser that does well in one area and flunks everything else? what is so special about me? nothing. i'm not good enough. my speech and writing isnt even good. its just mediocre. i'm so screwed up. life sucks, and then you die. but what if i dont want it to suck? is there even anything i can do right? i have no idea. when you're down to nothing, God is supposed to be up to something. but what if you're not down to nothing? what if you're upset, but not plummeting into the pits of depression? what happens to you then? i have no idea. is it so wrong to want a father to love me? am i being selfish? am i too ugly, stupid, redundant or useless that i cant have a father and mother who love and cherish me? i'm arrogant, i'm a show-off, and i know it. maybe there's a special punishment for people like me. i was thinking of putting up another essay. my end-of-year essay on family. i'd better not, right? i wonder what my father would think if he reads this. huh. as if he'd care enough to finish reading.

i'm seriously contemplating whether or not i should listen to her, haha. actually, i was thinking of starting another fanfiction on claire and quil. i've been crazy abt them ever since i got over bella and edward. aft i finish with claire and quil, i'll probably try to write another fanfic abt leah and embry.

ytd i met ms melinda for e CAP briefing thingy. i had 2 go back 2 sch on e 1st day of my sch hols. sad, right? oh well, it was pretty fun. she made us think up a character and write a few paragraphs on what that particular character does when he/she gets home. this is what i typed in a word document during e CAP briefing in sch.

First Thing This Person Does When She Gets Home

I exited the lift and proceeded to chain my bicycle to the shoe rack. I hollered at my helper to open the door as I removed my shoes and socks, not bothering to arrange them. After all, there was a reason she was still being paid.

Entering the house, I dropped my school bag onto the sofa and took my wallet and phone out of my skirt pocket, checking the latter again for any text messages I might have received on the way home. No new messages. Of course. Nobody ever bothered to text me unless they wanted me to do something. Either that, or they were just my incredibly unreasonable and masochistic CCA members reminding me that there would be CCA the next day. I dreaded those messages.

Stop thinking about those lousy witches, I reminded myself once again. Only it wasn’t “witches”, it was another word that rhymed with that. It would not do well to yell at any of my siblings just because I was upset about my terrible CCA members. I forced myself to take a deep breath and filled my mind with more pleasant thoughts.

if u still havent figured it out, that character is me. the stuff abt me in point form is true, except that i dont have full lips, i do have one or two branded items and clothes, i dont cycle to and from sch - i wish, but my sch is too far away, Larry is my aunt's dog, not mine, and i dont really have a fixed ambition. e stuff in e paragraphs is fiction, though. (i'm not that rude to my maid, and i'd never let my cca members affect me like that. but i do dread their smses and phone calls.)

everyone had to read out their few paragraphs, and after i read mine, ms melinda said it was a typical singaporean life. (she's australian or sth) she liked it, but i didn reali appreciate my work being referred to as "singaporean". so when i got home, i wrote another few paragraphs on an older character, still female, and what happened when she reached home. here it is...

I bit my lip and turned the handle of the door. “Is anyone in?” No response. I steeled myself to keep calm before I really started panicking. This was not my first time coming home to an empty house, but it was the first time I had to enter at the stroke of midnight. I cursed myself inwardly for not noticing the time while hanging out with a group of good friends. I should have come home hours ago.

Starting to tremble now, I reached up to switch on the lights. The darkness was petrifying. My fingers missed the switch and I lost my balance, falling hard onto the shoe cabinet. I raised my arms to protect my face as my mother’s glass vase dropped from the cabinet and landed near me.

The sound of the glass shattering was simultaneous to the sharp pain that cut through my legs. I muffled a scream. Not only was I perilously afraid of the dark, I also had a low tolerance level for pain. Claustrophobia settled in now, moving and sweeping across me, over and over again. I couldn’t breathe properly, and the smell of blood caused my head to spin. I was terrified.

The walls seemed to be closing in on me, and I could not see anything around me. The torturous sensation of pain and fear increased by the hundredfold. Adrenaline pumped through me, a knee-jerk reaction to the survival instinct that was telling me that I had to reach the light switch. I had to do it, or I would go absolutely crazy.

I tried to stand, but crashed back down onto the floor again. If any glass shards had cut me, I couldn’t feel them anymore, my legs were completely numb. I succumbed to my intense fear of enclosed spaces, and though somewhere in my subconscious mind I knew I was in an open living room, the darkness did not allow my present mind to register that fact.

My breath came in even shallower gasps now, and I wished that someone – anyone – would come and save me. I clawed at everything near me, raking the carpet and tearing it open in a futile attempt to save myself. I threw myself at the cabinet, first rolling on the floor aimlessly and then pounding my fists on it in a fit of desperation. I moved back and forth, trying to force my way out of this dark, cruel pit of hell. I put my hands over my ears and screamed hysterically. Unable to defend myself against the pain that was coming back with a vengeance, I sobbed uncontrollably. My head was throbbing. ‘Somebody save me’, I mouthed before everything went black.

nice right! hahaha :D i wanted to upload this on fictionpress, so i went to check my fictionpress account, then realized i couldn access it cos i deleted my old email account. i had to create a new fictionpress account, and that sucks because u cant upload anything until 2 days after u create e account. and i'm not a patient soul. hahaha :D i want to write one-shots on fictionpress so that i dont have to keep maintaining them. as u can see, i've alreadi gotten bored with my fanfic despite onli having posted 1 chapter. i have half of e 2nd chapter in my computer alreadi, though.

cant wait to finish it!!! then i can start writing my claire and quil one. of course, sneha dodo would just tell me to start writing e claire and quil one first, then go back to e bella and edward one later. wich i suppose is good advice, but i have OCD! (well, i think so. it's a self-diagnosis) i cant help it! i have to finish what i start. hahahaha XD

right, back to e CAP session with ms melinda! nopenope, i'm not done! :D she made us look for 3 people (or grps of people) to describe. e descriptions didnt have to be very long, just a sentence or two to sum up what they were doing. these were mine...

1. He overturned the rubbish bin and collected the garbage in a large black plastic bag. Swinging the bag over his shoulder, he looked like he was carrying bodies from a morgue. I shuddered.

2. With a towel draped over her head, she picked up her huge container of water and trudged back into the Parade Square. It was time for Round Two of netball training under the hot, scorching sun.

3. She plunged her chopsticks into her container of food, quickly filling her mouth with noodles. She gossiped with her friend like old ladies, and her hand gestures became increasingly comical. While she was opening and closing her hands so that they looked like a bird’s beak, I nudged a friend and pointed at her. We both broke into peals of hysterical laughter.

i read e 1st one out, and ms melinda nodded and said it was very good :D :D :D sorry, i'm a sucker for praise and any form of adult approval (its a line from e simpsons). check out e review for e episode where i first heard e line!

haha, i realized that i forgot to put random facts abt myself in e last 2 posts. i guess i'll stop doing it already, its kinda weird. quotes are enough :D
